The Hotel Fortina is situated in the heart of Sliema – Malta’s most popular city after the Capital City of Valletta. The hotel is also meters away from the newest up market residency – Tigne Point. Malta’s largest shopping complex is few meters away from the hotel too. The biggest advantage of Hotel Fortina is that the guest can revitalize and relax at the hotel’s facilities and enjoy the night life of Sliema just a stone throw away.
The Hotel Fortina was originally built as a family run establishment, which first opened in 1966 with an occupancy of 65 rooms. It was subsequently extended in 1978 and 1989. During this time the Cocktail Bar and Lido Bar, La Vallette Restaurant and swimming pools area was opened. In 1996 a newly built deluxe wing section was added to the hotel with an extra 77 rooms. The Thalasso Spa Mediterranee was also included in the hotel facilities. In 1997, the family run property introduced the “All Inclusive” concept to the island. This board basis was developed in order to allow guests to have greater variety and help them plan their holiday budget better. The All Inclusive board basis was a huge success and was in high demand at that time. However, this trend has phased out in recent years and the Hotel Fortina now offers bed and breakfast and half board packages. A new 5 star resort called the Fortina Spa Resort was built adjacent to the hotel. Guests staying at the hotel Fortina can take advantage of the 5 star resort facilities as well. In 2004 the world’s first Therapeutic Spa Bedrooms opened. Between 2005 and 2006 5 restaurants were built along with the Tower and the Belle Epoque, Hypogeum and Spa Sante areas. In 2006, the first Wellness rooms in Europe were finished.
The Hotel Fortina boasts with serving cuisine from all around the World and its concept of Dine Around the World enables guests to savour different international dishes every day. This idea is also applied in the Spa, where one can enjoy treatments applied all around the world.
